Masaya Sasaki is known from the release "Picnic Plan" on the fine netlabel -N, and when we discovered his music on Myspace, we were instantly transfixed. We've always found the Japanese take on electronic music fascinating, so it was suggested that Masaya Sasaki consider doing a release for Timetheory.

There was an initial language barrier, but eventually the message went through; "Send whatever you think sounds best", and "Pigment" was what came back to us.

The tracks on "Pigment" are intriguing takes on the ambient/drone sound. The tonal exercise of "Definition", the rumbling glitches of "Blackness" and "Auf Heben", the kaleidoscopic k-holes of "Spiral Tube" and "Bloom" and the gentle harshness of "Keymaker" together create a sound that resembles the smarter and better-behaved of the possible love-children of Nobukazu Takemura and Merzbow.

We look forward to hearing more from this fine artist, and we're told that indeed we will.
